In Ireland there is an old greeting, ‘Céad Míle Fáilte’, which means a Hundred Thousand Welcomes. While we may not be able to reach that amount, we will try our best to make you feel at home, from the minute that you arrive with us here at Portstewart. We want you to be ‘one of our own’ for the day.
Attention to detail, hospitality and a warm welcoming atmosphere is what we aim to achieve and then we will let the Links and the unrivalled scenery provide everything else.
Here at Portstewart, come 2019, we will have been around for 125 years. During this time we’ve come a long way, from the humble shed clubhouse beginnings to the modern, vibrant Club that we are today. The emphasis is on providing everything that the golfer requires to have a day out that they will enjoy, talk about and remember fondly once they have returned home.
The first hole, Tubber Patrick at the Strand Course, that has been described as the finest opening hole in Irish golf, is an elevated tee with breathtaking views of the North Atlantic, Lough Foyle and the Inishowen Peninsula in Donegal. From then on the eyes are in for a visual treat as the holes wind through the surreal Marram grass and sand dunes ‘cathedral’ creation of Des Giffin, Willie Park Jr and Mother Nature.
Relax in our modern clubhouse with panoramic views of the course, down to the beach and on to the hills of Donegal while enjoying the very finest in local cuisine. Freshly prepared food is available in our restaurant and bar and then wash it all down with a taste of the ‘black stuff’ or whatever your favourite tipple happens to be.
We believe that we can provide a totally unique experience with the 2017 DDF Irish Open Course, The Strand, backed up by the Riverside and Old Courses. Very few clubs in Ireland can claim to have three fine links courses under their care.
We pride ourselves on being a Club for all, members and visitors, from the first tee to the 19th hole all our people will endeavour to make your day one that you will remember for a very long time.
