“During my tenure as the Secretary of the Ulster Press Golf Society, which represents sports and news journalists, I have had the good fortune to play many of the golf courses in Ireland, North and South. I can tell you without a word of a lie that for overall experience, I have encountered none finer than what we received at Portstewart in early 2018. The Strand Course is truly stunning and a test of all the guile and skill that the golfer has or hasn’t got! Even when the scores were not going in the right direction, the scenery and the surroundings made it a day that was simply magical. ‘That was a great day out’ was the phrase that most of my members, regardless of scores, made to me of the Portstewart experience.
From the greeting in the car park, the warm reception and the professionalism of all the staff we encountered, I have never come across a more genuine and relaxing club atmosphere. The food was excellent and the beer cold. What more can I say, than thanks to Judith and all her staff for giving my members one of the finest days that I have had in the 50 years of our Society, which was founded in 1968.”

“Fantastic Club. Great welcome from the minute we got out of the car. Meet and greet staff were lovely. Bar staff attentive and food to die for. The course is such a gem. Put it on your bucket list. Visually stunning, challenging but fair and despite the weather, in great shape. Full marks to Judy and her team. 15 club managers and their officers left suitably impressed. Can't wait to go back. Thanks Judy.”

Number One All Day!!
“Right from the welcome in the carpark to the staff in the bar, we felt so welcomed. The views from the clubhouse were exceptional and really got the excitement building from the off. Portstewart is where it’s at!!”

It is beautiful but full of teeth.
“Pretty to look at but mean if you’re off the fairways.
One of my favourite golf courses worldwide. We would love to play it again. The staff we encountered were all very friendly and helpful.”

A Must-Play Course
“I loved the Strand Course at Portstewart Golf Club. The staff was very friendly and the golf course was a fantastic traditional links course. The front nine is really great and more challenging than the back nine. I would definitely play the course again!”

“Lee and I recently golfed at Portstewart. It was a privilege and a joy. The course is beautiful and everyone was very welcoming and hospitable. Andy was our caddy for two rounds and we thoroughly enjoyed his company. He was quick to learn Lee’s game and to provide sound suggestions on the course. It was a pleasure to meet you and we would love to return to your beautiful course in the future. You belong to a gem.”

World Class Golf
“I played Portstewart golf course for the second time and reconfirmed my thoughts that it is truly the finest front 9 on the planet--the sand dunes, the elevation changes, the conditioning, the routing and diversity of the holes were truly world class--i've played over 50 of the top 100 in the world so my benchmark is fairly high--the Irish Open will be a huge success there in my view--plus the back 9 continues to evolve and improve--this course is a must for any true golfer--plus the people were wonderful--a real treat”

Amazing place to play golf
“Playing golf the week after the Irish open was brilliant. Well worth a try if you're a golfer or like me, thinks he is. A beautiful part of Ireland friendly people country side very scenic. Beachside in this area to die for especially Benone which is only a few miles away. Then the north coast with the giants causeway not to many miles away.”

“Today I had the great pleasure of playing golf at Portstewart. The experience far exceeded my expectations primarily because of my caddie, Mr. Andrew Stanton.
Mr. Stanton made me feel right at home and his pleasant, easygoing demeanor made the joy of the good shots shine brighter and the pain of the bad shots disappear into the wind. While I certainly didn’t have my “A game” going today, he made it an “A+” experience.”

Play the Old Course
“For a great links experience in one of the most beautiful settings in Ireland, the old course in Portstewart offers it all. Cheap, at £10 a round during the week, you can play a full 18 holes that will challenge but not frustrate all abilities of golfer. The greens and fairways are well maintained and it never feels busy, even on a busy day. All in all, a fantastic course, at a fantastic price, when you compare it to the neighbouring championship courses at £100+”

Spectacular front nine
“The jaw-dropping view from the tee down the first hole and to the beach beyond would take some matching. But the second is equally spectacular, dropping down from another elevated tee before a steady climb up a narrow steep-sided valley in the high dunes. And so it goes on throughout the first nine before the course opens out with fine views across the nearby estuary of the River Bann. There are two other courses on this flatter ground, for which the fees are a fraction of that for the Strand, but it's worth shelling out to experience as good a front nine as you are likely to find anywhere.”
