We are committed to helping preserve, promote and protect our special lands in the interests of the local, and global environment and for the enjoyment of our future generations. We are proactively practicing and introducing measures, not just on the management of the Links but also in the running of our Clubhouse. We encourage all our Patrons to do the same – here are some of our current initiatives:
- We take pride in our natural setting and environment and actively promote and protect the natural flora and fauna of the links and the wildlife habitat therein.
- We work with, and support a range of outdoor and conservation bodies in helping to preserve our historic sites and wildlife environment; our dunes lands have been assigned as an Area of Special Scientific Interest (ASSI) by the Northern Ireland Environment Agency.
- We align ourselves and are working towards certification with the GEO, Golf Environment Organisation and the Green Tourism Business Scheme as an indicator of our environmental commitment and focus.
- We source much of our food ingredients locally.
- We continuously seek to improve our environmental performance; our future development plans include measures to reduce our environmental impact.
- We train our people on environmental awareness.
- We encourage our people to work in an environmentally responsible manner.
- We have a Green Team that consists of a member of staff from each department.
- We actively recycle waste and have significantly reduced waste to landfill and we continue to minimise this.
- We work to minimise the use of energy, water and fossil fuels.
- We support the community in which we operate.
